The Bolshoi Theatre plans to reconstruct the 19th century tenement building in the center of Moscow
According to the Moscomstroy Invest, Federal State Institution “State Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Russia” plans to reconstruct the 19th century tenement building on the Kuznetsky bridge, which has historical value; its total area will not be enlarged, and nor will be its dimensional characteristics changed.
As it is stated in the press-release, “Moscow Urban Planning and Land Commission approved the draft of urban development plan for the reconstruction of the existing object, located in Kuznetsky bridge street, estate 3/4, building 1”.
It is also stated, that a permanent building with total area of 4,58 thousand square meters, which is considered to have historical value – “A tenement building – an administrative building” – is located there at the moment. The building is federally owned; 1 thousand square meters are occupied by a suite of rooms that are subject to operational administration of the Bolshoi Theatre.
According to the Moscomstroy Invest, the land was provided to enable maintenance of premises in the building for trade and storage purposes. It was allowed to use this land mainly for construction of polyclinic outpatient departments without in-patient units, pharmacies, optical stores, medical goods and equipment shops. It can also be used for hotels and other temporary residences, as well as for retail distribution of foodstuffs and nonfood items, public eating places, offices and multifunctional business centers.
